Made By Hand – Channel 31 – I made it

So…. I made it!

Yes, I was on the tele last night, celebrating the fabulous Pip Lincolne originated craft group ‘Brown Owls‘, hopefully conveying some of the inspiration that she and it have given me since my arrival in Melbourne.

Made By Hand – Channel 31

So….  a few weeks back I volunteered to help teach some lovely ladies at the Brunswick Brown Owls how to make a crocheted granny square. It was a super evening, I had a great time sharing some knowledge and a few people learnt to crochet right from scratch and others enjoyed getting into a granny square groove. It was great, well received, lots of good sharing, social and just jolly well nice.

The evening’s proceedings were made a bit more interesting due to a film crew being in attendance. Continue reading

My first night at a craft group

Here is my story, of fact, not fiction, which I feel like sharing; especially with those that may be thinking of joining a craft group and may have a few first night nerves.

It was February I think, 2009, my first Brown Owls in real life experience. A Brown Owls article in Frankie magazine had inspired me, whilst on a flight to Brisbane for Christmas just before. I remember it well. That was the first time I discovered Frankie as well as the first time I discovered Brown Owls – a pretty inspirational combination. Continue reading
